As I seek a second term as IUCN President, I remain committed to a Union that is strategic, inclusive, and effective — delivering impact for nature and people. My vision is shaped by six priorities:
1. Strategy in Action
I will translate IUCN's 20-Year Strategic Vision into results: tackling biodiversity loss, improving coordination, and supporting implementation at all levels. This living document will continue to evolve through collective dialogue and Member engagement.
2. Good Governance and Finance
I will uphold transparency, integrity, and efficiency across the Union. We have improved financial resilience, clarified roles, and strengthened the Council–Secretariat relationship. Governance must remain focused on impact, not micromanagement, while fostering trust and collaboration.
3. Member Value
IUCN must deliver scientific tools, policy leadership, and convening power to all Members, large and small. I will continue to make the Union more responsive, accessible, and relevant to our diverse membership worldwide.
4. Beyond 2030
With 2030 targets fast approaching, IUCN must shape the post-2030 agenda. I will champion a global review of progress for nature — to assess gaps, identify what's working, and guide future ambition.
5. Climate–Nature Nexus & Multilateral Leadership
Biodiversity loss, climate change, and inequality are interconnected crises that require integrated, inclusive solutions. IUCN must remain a politically independent but globally influential voice. I will expand engagement with Indigenous Peoples, the Global South, and the private and financial sectors — ensuring that equity, science, and nature-based solutions are central to global action.
6. Innovation with Integrity
Technology must serve conservation, not define it. I will promote ethical, inclusive innovation to strengthen IUCN's scientific leadership while upholding the integrity of field-based conservation.
